Romeo and Juliet Reflections
Shakespeare had a lot to say about love and hate. One of his plays, "Romeo and Juliet" was a tragedy that focused on the love of two teenagers who claimed to love each other so much they would die for each other. I think he believed that love and hate could be connected in a way, not just as opposites, but also as they can be similar as one could lead to the other. He viewed love as something that could be used ultimately as a weapon, whereas most people will look at hate as the weapon. Romeo and Juliet loved each other so much that they went to extreme lengths to be together, such as getting married in secret, and getting others involved in their wedding, even though it could have lead to severe consequences not just for Romeo and Juliet, but also for other parties involved, such as Friar Lawrence and the Nurse. Romeo and Juliet were both from families that were feuding, and there was even a threat that if there were more fights, somebody would end up being killed. Romeo and Juliet both ended up dying, because they could not be without each other, even though their families both thought otherwise. Love ended up being the weapon, because they both died, whereas hate, which tends to be seen as the weapon, would've kept them separated. Not only did love kill Romeo and Juliet, but their love also led to the deaths of Mercutio, and Tybalt.
